The Spirit That Heals

All the rules change. Actually the rules here have always been the rules, you just didn’t know it. I’m giving you fair warning on this one, writing about healing from a spiritual perspective is inherently problematic.  It is the greatest truth and possibility for liberation and true healing from cancer or any other malady. Without it true healing cannot occur.  On the other hand it is so experiential that writing about it often leads people to thinking about it.  Thinking about the spirit is not the truth.  The mind alone will never give you a spiritual experience. It will, however, keep you from experiencing spiritual truth.

My suggestion as we bring spirituality into the conversation about cancer is you stay very aware of what you’re feeling.  Also watch for synchronicities occurring. Synchronicity is a sign of worlds combining and of the presence of the spirit.

Spiritual healing occurs when you realize in a deeper way that you are divine. This is the greatest truth, that you sitting there right now, reading these words, are an expression of God.

Realizing this, really owning it in your being is the most healing and transcendent experience in life and it brings with it an avalanche of grace.

How then do you experience this?  You experience it by getting on a spiritual path and actively pursuing your own personal evolution.  Note: a spiritual path may or not be a religious path.  Spirituality can be found within religion but will always transcend religion. Religion (in most cases) is a social and moral construct.  If it works for you that’s wonderful and it if doesn’t thats wonderful too.

A few basic concepts

Clearing – Clearing is a label that can be used to describe the process of “cleaning up” old, outdated and unhelpful experiences, patterns, stories and stresses stored in the Physical, Emotional and part of the Mental realms of life.  All of the experiences we have had, all of the beliefs that were not the highest truth, all of the pain and trauma are still in some way with us.  The reason they are with us is because they are useful to us!  These painful experiences have lessons for us that will allow us to come to know truer versions of ourselves.  Thank god we are hanging on to them, if we weren’t we’d have to go through that experience all over again to get the message and learn the lesson!  Ain’t nobody got time for dat!(a little humor break for you at this link)  Review the articles linked above to get more ideas on clearing.

Your Northstar – The nature of life is that you learn through things that are inherently challenging.  These challenges can appear in any area of life.  Understanding your own fundamental, core, bedrock beliefs is so valuable for helping experience the Divine in your daily life. For me, holding on to 2 fundamental beliefs has helped me through every single challenge in my life. These beliefs are One: This is happening for my benefit and Two: I choose the highest Truth.

Because I believe these things all of life is an expression of spirituality for me.  This can be true for you as well.  Having cancer will be one of the greatest teachers in your life, if you let it.  It will pull at you and force you to own higher truths about yourself.  If healing through cancer is how life evolves for you the experiences on the other side of life will be richer, deeper and truer than you have experienced thus far.

The take home message here is that when you can experience the truth that all of life is a spiritual experience then cancer must be as well. The thing that stops it from being “spiritual” is the fact that you are afraid, angry, confused and overwhelmed. If your goal is to continue to live then these states must be upgraded into something more whole, integrated and healthy. If cancer was the impetus for that to happen. . . then that is a gift.

Have fun implementing these truths.

You’re doing great, I Love you lots.

Dr. Matt

Hi Heather, the Catholic faith is certainly one way that we can choose to express our spirituality. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful article. I found such freedom and had such monumental shift in my perspective of death and dying after reading:
Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss and Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch.
I do not see death, or life for that matter as an “end-all – be-all” but rather a transition to a different state of consciousness – no longer inhibited by a body.
Thanks for continuing to spread truth:-)

      Hi Natalie,

So glad you enjoyed it. I’m not familiar with Brian Weiss but I know Neale Donald Walsch’s writing has been monumental for many people, including my mother who had cancer.
